the problem with logic and arguments

2005-10-16

There are people that make very logical arguments in discussions and appear by all means to be logical persons - but with who you simply can't argue. Why is that?

One thing I found is the fact that their decision process is often anything but logical. Their mind is set, and then they use logic to 'make right' what they have decided to be right. Logic as a tool to proove the point. A point that just might have been arrived at through other means

In marketing this is a long known fact. Buying decisions are not made on logic arguments. Nobody buys a car because of it's stats. The stats are there to justify the (emotional) decision of 'wanting that car'.
