The Long Tail weblog had a post about "machinima" - the art and practice of making animated movies with the help of realtime-rendering. Commonly done with first person shooter game engines like Halo 2, Unreal etc.
This idea being a long-time back burner in my head I went on a websurfing tangent about this topic. Here's some of the stuff I found noteable:
- Machinima entry on WiKIpedia
- A set of slides introducing the idea
- A keyframed cut-scene editor software that seems to unboundle the machinima idea from the game-engine contraints
- A pointer to the Kuleshov Effect, to which I will dedicate another post.
