harrasing myself....
(Wednesday 27th October 2004)

Hmmm, I think I've written about this somewhere already. But this short summary of the 'Getting Things Done' practice has started me down a new road: but she's a girl... » Getting Things Done: The Theory

The major phrase that coght me this time was this:

but the basic idea is that you need to download every idea, task or thing that you think of, and get it out of your brain and onto some kind of external storage device as soon as possible. That way all those things aren’t subconsciously nagging away at your attention, and you don’t lose any of the tasks you need to do.

Somehow I had come to that conclusion some time ago already... but again returned to 'keeping it brewing'. I tend to keep ideas in my head until they are 'fully formed'. But at the same time, I'm currently only getting very little done.

So now I am thinking of how I could go about this 'getting it out of my system fast' thing... Obviously - for me - that will include easy and quick acces to digital storage. Tinderbox seems like the natural match, and I have already used it extensively for my IdeaBook. But for one reason or the other my PowerBook and therewith Tinderbox have hibernated ever since I stopped going to the office each day and spend my days and nights at home mostly. I guess that will need to change radically if I am to surmount this total block I have been in the last few weeks.
(total block is a realative term and depends very much on my subjective perception. I have actually done and learned a lot these lat few weeks. Only I have not xet cracked the actual obstacle I would have wanted to. I have not found the magic formula for my future ;) )
