I was missing some critical voices that really challenged the advocates of "self organized learning" and "personal publishing" as a method of facilitation. I won't say that the discussion was positivistic journey into self fullfilling prophecies, but I think it is pretty hard with a bunch of convinced bloggers to crack the reasoning of a student that has good arguments against an unquestioned and pseudo-liberal "self responsibility" in formal education.
Well I guess many of the participants were inspierd/influenced by the 'FoodForThought' document Sebastian had suggested: Ivan Illich: Deschooling Society: Chapter Six
Ivan Illich takes a very radical approach, claiming that to actually start learning again, we'd need to completly get rid of the current mdel of 'school' ...
Also one should not forget that a lot of the people gathered were already well versed in the skills of self-learning... many even convinced that school/university has had very little influence on the skills and knowledges they now have and need for their occuoations...
