Provided a text description of a software project, Premake can generate one or more of:

• GNU makefiles
• MS Visual Studio 6 workspace and project files
• MS Visual Studio 7 solution and project files
• ...more toolsets coming soon.

development environments, Premake helps keep everyone in sync. Include a Premake file with the source code and users can generate the appropriate project files for their own environment. It allows developers to create project files for tools which are not installed on their system, and provides a way to migrate to new development environments in the future.
